Why is it called the Daneway? I meant to ask the landlord as he was very informative about the old canal and very pleasant and welcoming. We came across the Daneway coming from the old church in Sapperton and still amazed at the effigies in there. Slid all the way down the hill in the snow. Nice ale and pleasant to sit outside even on a February day. Great old house, lots of interesting features and the walk along the canal looking at the old locks with the irises just coming up was wonderful in the late afternoon sun. A pub and area well worth visitng in all seasons.

You're guaranteed a warm welcome from landlords Elizabeth and Richard when you stop for a pint and one of the excellent bar meals served at the Daneway Inn.”

The best of Cirencester

landlord & landlady

Elizabeth and Richard Goodfellow, the present landlords, moved to The Daneway Inn as managers in 1986, taking over the licence in 1997, making them the longest serving landlord and landlady in the district. Their longevity and dedication really shows. The Daneway has retained the charm and tradition of a ‘proper’ country pub, with a selection of drinks and a menu to match.
